COD: Black Ops has just launched after months of eager waiting by millions of people around the World... however, if you're one of the unlucky players who've found their version of Black Ops "lagging" (running slow) when playing multiplayer, you're not the only one. The problem of a slow loading multiplayer game is nothing new... but if you're experiencing the infamous "lag", you need to be able to repair any of the issues which are causing the problem. This tutorial is going to show you how to stop your COD game loading slowly.

What Is "Lag" And Why Does COD Slow Down?

The term "lag" is widely used by gamers to describe the slow-down effect that some multi-player games experience if they have a problem. Typical signs of "lag" include the likes of your game jolting, you not being able to move in the game and having difficulty interacting with the virtual characters inside the program. If you're experiencing a slow game, you need to resolve the possible issues which are leading the problem to occur.

The most likely reason why your game is running slow will be down to your Internet Connection not being fast enough to run it. This will prevent the software from being able to communicate its data / information quickly enough - leading the lag to occur. After that, you will generally see the likes of game problems and issues with the graphics card of your computer causing the lag to occur.

How To Resolve Lag With COD: Black Ops

The way to stop your game "lagging" is actually very simple - you basically need to be able to fix the errors which will be causing the problem in the first place. Here's what you need to do:

1) Make Sure Your Internet Is Working Quickly - You should click onto a website called "SpeedTest.net", which will allow you to test the speed of your connection. If it's under 500kb/s, then you need to either get a faster one or talk to your ISP about its speed.

2) Re-Install the Game - You need to be able to re-install the game if it's causing any further problems. It's likely that the program will have some sort of issue or problem preventing it from loading up correctly, leading the lagging to occur. To resolve this problem, it's recommended you click onto "Start > Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs" and then get rid of the game from your PC.

3) Clean Out The Registry - If you find the above two methods don't work to fix the error, you then need to be able to fix any part of the registry that's causing a problem. The registry is a central database which Windows computers use to store all the files & settings they require to run. Despite being highly important, this database will often become damaged & corrupted - causing all sorts of problems including the slowing down of your system. By cleaning out the registry of your PC, you should be able to fix any of the issues this part of your system will be causing, allowing the speed of your game to be boosted.
